Quumla is Goddess of pleasure, beauty, and abundance; but she deals swiftly and harshly with insincerity. Her land is lush and verdant, but stormy. Heavy rains and winds whip through Quumla every week or two, with beautiful clear blue sky at most other times.

Quumla is active in her realm bestowing blessings on those who are true and faithful, and bringing curses upon those who abuse her name or act falsely. It is crucial to know that "acting falsely" has more to do with being true to yourself than behaving in a manner that pleases others. The Goddess is more likely to bestow her blessings on a cold-blooded killer who murders without compunction than on a great altruist who resents those he gives his charity to.
But she is capricious, and it can be hard to predict or explain her blessings.
The Goddess has many servants as well: demigods, demigoddesses, spirits, celestials, demons, elementals who do her bidding.
Quumla is the only Queendom where humans are common, and the Queen of Quumla is most often human, or occasionally elven. Traditionally, the outgoing queen chooses her own successor. If no successor has been chosen, the High Council must select the new queen, who can not be from their number. The queen must always be native-born in the land of Quumla, a sworn servant of the Goddess, and, of course, stunningly beautiful.
Much of the real work of administering the queendom is undertaken by the council, and it is rare for a queen to partake in day-to-day business.
Quumla is known as a hotbed of factional intrigue, and the politics of the mercantile classes are always shifting.
The capital of Quumla is the port city of Stormhaven, built along the inner cliffs and hills of a crater on the edge of the sea. The harbor, also called Stormhaven, is also the mouth of the Olatal River, which has a central place in the life of Quumla.
